Last weekend, while many people I know were celebrating #LaBoracay, I chose to spend mine on a rather serene island with Ced's family and family friends. We planned to fly to Bora this year but rescinded - yet another proof that so much can change in just a year. Ced was never into partying, but living up to that awesome boyfriend he has always proclaimed himself to be - and which he actually is, he goes along with anything I desire to do. I've outgrown parties as early as I was a senior in college but I still loved crowds and the rowdiness that comes along with being part of it. However, late last year I realized I've begun to hate crowded and loud places. Concerts, parties, not even beach parties no longer give me the surge of happiness like it used to. Plus, they trigger my anxiety.
So to cut to the chase, peace and quiet won over wet and wild. Here are some pictures from last weekend's Pangasinan trip.
First stop: Hundred Islands. Interesting fact: This was my first time to visit Hundred Islands.
Story behind this photo: Ced's parents are fully aware of my obsession with shrimp. Each time I visit their house, they make it a point the ulam is sinigang na hipon knowing it's my favorite lutong bahay. I make Mamang (Ced's grandma) so proud when I enter their house and go straight to the kitchen to eat not even waiting for them to ask me (haha). Apparently, they love feeding me because I don't stop commenting how good the food is every two minutes with my mouth full. And they love how I feel so at home. No shy type girlfriends allowed in their house. :))
Now why I'm holding this giant sugpo is because on our second morning, Ced's parents came back from the market and excitedly called me saying they have a surprise for me. Tito pulled out this baby from a plastic bag and I almost jumped for joy. They said it was the very last one in the market. Before this photo was taken, Ced whispered to my ear... "Spoiled"
And one of the many reasons why Ced and I can't break up is I can never ever break up with his family.
We visited the Enchanted Cave on that day, a tourist attaction that they turned into a small resort. In the photo above, I'm stepping on coral rocks - and what they claim is proof that this area was part of the sea approximately ten million years ago.
The rest of the afternoon was spent on Patar White Beach in Bolinao.
And for taking dozens of pictures and attempting to climb a rock formation, I injured my sole.
On our last day we went to Bolinao Falls. You can jump, plunge and dive 18 feet underwater. I didn't though. My uterus disrupted our trip on our last day. But it was soothing just enjoying this lovely view. Nature wins me over and over again.
There's South China Sea behind me!
After visiting Bolinao Falls, we just stayed at the resort. For the sake of adventure and taking pictures in this low tide, Ced and I endured the scorching heat of the sun. Doesn't matter, we're already tan anyway.
